Canaan Parish is proud to present the newly developed four-story (LIHTC)/8-30G, low-income housing tax credit program which comprises of (1) one (2) two and (3) three-bedroom units.  The amenities include stainless appliances, washer/dryer hook-up, on site laundry room, clubhouse, balconies, or patios, playground, basketball court. and community gardens.  Canaan Parish has easy access to the train station, Merritt Parkway, Interstate 95, and minutes away from downtown/restaurants, (please note: utilities are not included, and the rent is NOT subsidized according to adjusted gross income)

Section 8 & RAP vouchers are welcome to apply.  Applicants with rental assistance subsidy, such as Section 8 or the state RAP program, are exempt from the household income requirement stated above and will be determined “income eligible” considering that the prospective tenant’s rental subsidy plus any additional income they may have is sufficient to meet the rent and any utility obligations of tenancy.

Application: The application must be filled out completely and submitted with the required documentation. All household members (18) eighteen years old or older must sign the application and undergo a background screening to determine eligibility for occupancy, inclusive to criminal and credit check.

Applicant Responsibilities

The applicant must inform the management office in writing, should there be any changes in their family composition, income, and/or address. Applicants must respond to any requests to update their documentation within five (5) business days to finalize eligibility. Failure to reply to any correspondence(s), will result in your name being removed from the waiting list.

ADVISORY NOTICES:

PRIORITY:  First priority will be provided to employees at the Town of New Canaan.  "Employee of the Town" shall mean a full-time employee of the Town of New Canaan or New Canaan Board of Education.

NO SMOKING:  Please be aware that Canaan Parish Redevelopment is a Smoke-Free Community. Smoking will not be allowed anywhere on the property, including but not limited to: The Apartment, Common Areas, Parking Lots, and Landscaped Areas. This policy means “No Smoking”, NOT “No Smokers”. Everyone is welcome to apply for an apartment at Canaan Parish Redevelopment.
